After a hurricane
Dumpster for storm cleanup
When a storm comes through, Lee County and the cities run their own debris pickup at the curb. A rented container is for what that program won't take, or for when you need the debris gone on your own schedule.
Phone hours: Monday–Saturday 8 a.m.–8 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m.–1 p.m., Eastern time

Start with the county's storm pickup
Lee County's post-hurricane debris guidelines ask you to set storm debris at the curb, not in the road, in separate piles:
- Garbage
- Yard waste
- Building debris
- Appliances
- Other waste
Mixed piles slow everyone down. Keep debris away from low branches, power lines, water meters, fire hydrants and mailboxes. Household chemicals stay off the curb and go to the Topaz Court facility instead. Crews make several passes, so the first truck may not take everything.
Cities and towns set their own rules after each storm. Watch your city's or the county's updates.
When a container helps
County pickup covers debris from the storm on residential property. A rental fills the gaps:
- Repair work weeks later, when a remodeler tears out wet drywall, flooring or cabinets
- A lanai screen enclosure or fence that came down and has to be cut up
- Clearing a garage or a ground floor before work starts, without waiting for the next pass
- Rental properties and second homes where nobody can watch a curb pile
Book early and be patient
After a big storm, every company in the area gets busy at once, and roads may be blocked. Ask about delivery dates rather than expecting a quick drop-off, and describe the debris honestly so the right size comes.
The rental company only rents the container and hauls it away. It doesn't assess damage or deal with insurance.
